Default Removing Heads

Has anybody taken their heads off while in the car? I currently working on it and got almost all the head bolts out. All of them are loose already but a couple won't clear when you pull them out. Will this be a problem after I disconnect the headers tomorrow with clearance with a couple of bolts still there? I don't see anyway of take them out all the way though.

No, they'll be fine. Just hold the bolts up with some zip ties. Once you loosen the manifold and zip tie the head bolts that won't clear you can just pull the head right out.

i've done it w/ my pi swap... just use some rubberbands for the ones that cant come out. pull them out as far as you can then tie 'em there so you can pull out the heads.

I have been toying with the idea of replacing my own heads with a set of stage 2's.

Here is a decent write up on the process. *there are 4 pages to the article.

Thanks everyone for the feed back. I'm actually pulling the whole motor out but just decided to break it down as I do it. This is a buddy's car, don't know if your all familiar with El Paso, TX or not, but there's no drainage here. He went off a ramp at night and couldn't see the water standing with the glare or anything and hit the puddle and suck water up in the engine. There no compression in #8 clyinder at all. So it's all coming out.

well there's only shorty's on there so... maybe I got it a little easy. Outside a few horsepower gains, LT's seem to be a PITA with alot of work that has to be done with these cars! a lot of posts on here about LT's being in the way of a lot of projects. Glad I went with shorty's now.

LT's are really only worth the PITA if you have some sort of F/I imo.
