Default shifting issues at the track

okay...i know there are endless threads about how terrible the T-45 is and get a TKO etc etc, with that aside....

at the track ive been starting to speed shift or whatever its known as (not letting off the gas when shifting) but now, when i try to hit 2nd, i usually miss and just grind the effin crap out of it....so i stopped speed shifting into 2nd and just did it into 3rd and it was fine...but then while i was in the finals in the bracket rounds i missed 2nd without speed shifting! [:@]maybe i just get a little too quick with the clutch? but if thats not the case.....

..is there anything that can be done to help this issue? besides the TKO haha

A short shifter should help you a little bit.

I used to have similar problems with my steeda triax shiftlever in the lower position. I moved the lever to the upper position to slow my shifts down a bit, and I don't miss gears as often as I did before. With a stock T-45 like mine, you just have to live with it until you upgrade.

is it hard to get it into 2nd, or is it just user error. Because if its starting to get hard watch out for your syncros(spelling)

its not really hard to get it into 2nd gear, granite its more rough than the other gears but not really hard or difficult

its always at the track....im thinking maybe i dont hold the clutch in long enough and i let out right before i hit 2nd beacuse its not as smooth as the other gears itdoes takes more effort to reach 2nd gear...

would a short throw shifter make a difference?

i would go with the short shifter. MGW if you have the choice. I have a T45 in mine and the MGW made a HUGE difference. And it only took me about an hour to install myself and i am not very mechanically engineered either

You can try a MGW, but it sounds like to me the 2nd gear syncs are going out. Its V E R Y bad to grind gears in a T-45... thats what kills the syncs.

Both transmissions I had that died (45s) went out because of a specific first grind that I can remeber. After that first one, it was only a matter of time before it went boom. If it starts grinding more and more, start saving your pennys.

yea... it comes with full directions on how to install it but if you don't buy their boot you can use the stock one you just have to cut out one of the rings to get it to slip over the shifter
