Popping out of reverse?? Whats causing this?
Ok, I just got back on to this site recently so Im asking alot of questions all of a sudden. My car is a 98 Cobra wht/tan leather 5spd with 47k miles on it. Its a very clean one owner car I just bought about a month or so ago. The car "pops' out of reverse every once in a while when backing up (backing out of garage) and then of course it grinds for a sec and I have to put it back in. As far as the other gears 1-5 I have no probs. I just recently adjusted the clutch according to the manual by lifting up on clutch pedal and then pressing back down until it clicked. Any info or help would be appreiated. Love this site!!

i always put it into 5th and then down to reverse and it always works... other than when it gets stuck and doesnt go into reverse at all... then i pump the clutch a couple times and shuv it into reverse and its fine...

I don't believe Reverse has synchronizers... they're straight cut gears, as opposed to 1-5 which are helical gears. (hence why you hear that whine in reverse) Why would you need it to be synchronized to put it in gear from a stop?
possibly a bent shift fork?
