Default Motor Oil Preferences

I was wondering what you guys run on your 4.6 motor.

I have always run Castrol GTX in my Supra Turbo.

I figure seeing as how my car just turned 30k miles I would run Mobil 1 synthetic.

I would like to know what brand and weight you all run. Keeping in mind I live in Orlando, FL

Thanks!

I have run Castorl Syntech in all my cars, from the time i purchase i cahnge out the oil and run the full synthetic in them. I live in Naples fl and run Castrol Syntech 5w30 in my 4.6, I deff would suggest that you go with the full synthetic!!!!

I just bought a case of Mobile-1 synthetic 5-30. I'll be switching from a blend to full synthetic. As soon as we get a break from this cold weather I am making the switch.

Alright... stupid question... do you have to do anything to your car when changing from regular to synthetic? I was under the vague impression the two combined to gum up things pretty badly... is it a simple matter of draining out the old and pouring in the new... maybe putting a new oil filter on... or is it more involved then that?

I just wanted to ask, as i had mentioned else where I'm new to mustang and i figure it is safer to ask some people who know these cars well, until i learn more about my car. I believe I will go with Mobil 1. I'm assuming 5w - 30 is the right weight for it, correct? I unfortanetly did not get a owners manual for it, so i have no reference.

thanks,

yeah for the 4.6 5w30 is what the manual calls for and what i run.... As far as swithching from regular to a synthetic all i have ever done is change the oil and filter. I have done this with all the cars and trucks that I have owned in the last 12 years (and i have owned about 9 in that time frame) and have no problems at all

Royal Purple 10W30 full synthetic. Only use synthetic oils in my cars. I also use 10W30 Mobil 1 in my Aurora with its 32 valve Norstar engine. Syntech full synthetic in the Aurora now but makes the car seem tight compared to Mobile 1 I usually use. Can you believe Mobile 1 was sold out at Pep Boys the other day. Must be the below zero weather we're having in upstate New York recently. Engine turns over at -20 below the same way it does in July at 80+ degrees. Good stuff. Go synthetic!
