Default Black coolant

Im going to try to kee;p this short...
I thought it was a blown head gasket so I pulled all the plugs and did a compresson test. The high was 195 and the low was 170.I drained the oil to see what it looked likeand it looked like straigh oil. I then took some coolant and put itin aglass to see if the coolant would seperate from the oil. After an hour it was pretty much the same except for what looked like dirt starting to settle.I bought the motor from a guy3 months ago. Its a 2003GTwith 33000 miles on it.When I got the engine it was all rusted inside where the water pump was. I took a garden hose and flushed the motor out and put a new radiator in too. I am starting to think thatit was just dirst in the motor that I didnt get out. Wht do you guys think?

Sounds like its just rust. Take it somewhere and get it flushed.

+1 You want to make sur all your passage ways are clear and open! Your compression test seems prety good too. Nothing out the ordinary. Ford has some pretty leanient guidlines! shame on them!

Another route for you....On my Lightning there is the bottom radiator hose that has a junction type of connector. Over time...this connector will start to break down internally and feed your coolant tank a nice mixture of coolant and rubber particles!!!!! Take your finger and rub the inside of your coolant tank.....Take your fingers and rub them together... Feel the little particles??? I was lucky enough to retrieve a decent size piece of rubber out of my tank to inspect....Definitely Rubber!!!!!

Not sure if the 4.6s have this lower connection (never lookd on my GT) but I would think it probably is the same tech used on both motors.
