Default Throttle Body????

Hey guys just installed my ram air kit on the stang andit got me thinking abouta throttle body. But i hear mixed reviews. I have some people saying hp gains and better gas mileage and others saying 30% loss in gas mileage and not much if any hp gain. So my ques is those who have it have experience what kind do you have do you notice loss in gass and any gain in power?? Also is there a big difference between a twin throttle body and a single???

thanks

Well, I just sent back an accufab TB. My thought is unless you get a better than stock plenum, you won't see any significant increase. Maybe a little better throttle response but no significant HP gain. Even with the TB and plenum, unless you have other mods such as better cams, you won't get the full benefit. I am waitinguntil I can upgrade my cams to VT stage 1 and then I will look at a better TB and plenum. Just my opinion though.

Even if you add a plenum your gains are going to be minimal at best. Roughly 5rwhp is what most fairly stock cars gain from a tb/plenum upgrade.

go up to whoever told you it was going to cost you 30 percent MPG, pull down your pants, and slap them across the face with your junk.

+1

Me too..
I bought the kit (70mm) from AM and it totally sucked, or didn't depend upon how you look at it
I had RPM hang.
It seemed to lean the car out and I lost torque big time.
This is with a stock 03 auto except for Magnaflow exhaust.
MAJOR loss of power, although it did rev better.

I sent it back and have not regretted it one bit.
A tune more than likely would have solved the problems but I'm getting 26mpg and have plenty of power so
why mess with a good thing?

Maybe the 5 speed guys feel the difference because they shift up higher, but for me
on a DD, it was a total waste and the RPM hang drove the auto crazy when coming to a stop.

My advice is don't waste your money.
I have several guys in my Mustang club running superchargers with the stock system and they
have no problems at all.

I've had no problems with my TB. No hanging RPMs. You could have a leaking TB gasket. That could cause hanging RPMs. I have a Mac 70mm TB and all it's done for me what give me 1.5 hp to the wheels and better throttle response. I'm betting that the 1.5 hp increase was due to the fact that my old TB was all nasty and dirty. When I changed the TB I cleaned out the plenum, too. I'm guessing the power increase was from all of that. Ha ha...

Put the money towards a short throw shifter or some new gears. I think you'll get a better return.
