Default Shifting hard in the cold?

Anybody have a problem shifting when it's cold out? It's usually when i go into 3rd. It goes in hard and sounds like it's grinding but it's not. It'd pretty rough though. This a common thing or what? My buddy told me to just get a new shifter anyway so that's what i'm gonna do. Just wanted to know if anyone else has that problem.

my car does that bit. i have a tri ax. if it just does it when its cold, and not a big problem i woldn't worry bout it. even if it is something you can fix, like a flywheel or pilot bearing, it's not bad enough to be worth the trouble of fixing.

Common problem on the 3650.
I had the TSB done for the 1-2 grind and the occasional 3rd lock out. Didn't really drive the car after it was fixed not sure if it was any better.
But I installed a MGW shifter in the car over the weekend. It is firm to shift, but it's positive and there is no hint of grinding even in the past two 15degree mornings I took the car to work.

Its really common when the tranny is cold. Mine does it going into second when its cold and now my synchros in third is going out from all the racing. I have to get them fixed soon. [&o]

Yep virtually all 3650's do that when its cold, mine is only bad in 2nd but when it warms up it shifts like butter.

A shifter really wont fix the problem. But the Tri Ax, Pro 5.0 and the MGW are the best on the market.

Im not sure what will fix it but Ford did put out a TSB on most of the 3650 trannys from 01.5 to preseeent day to fix all the bad synchros if im not mistaken. I cant have it done because of the 4.10's. [&o]
