Default RE: Deal of a lifetime!?!?!

deals definately good even if the heads are bad. Take the cams off the heads and check for scoring of the cam caps and cam. If their not scored, check the clearances with plastigauge. If all checks out then your fine. Even if the cam and heads are fine I doubt anything else would be. But, hey like they said already - the headers are almost worth that.

the places where the cams are bolted down onto the head. scoring = scratching. even without scoring the friction from no oil coulda wore the cam lobes or cam bores in the head / caps and opened up the clearances too far. could be corrected with a line bore and oversized bearings but heads are so cheap they usually get junked first.

So I should take these (heads/cams) to a head shop and have them look 'em over and tell me what's up.. and if they are all good, then go for a port and polish? Sounds like a plan. I mean, I'm getting these heads and all from a respectible shop, I don't take my car anywhere else but to this guy. Should I still get a second opinion?

with the mods in my sig and the PI head/intake swap and the FMS shorty headers, is it possible for me to hit the 12's without DR's???

12's without drag radials is close to impossible in a bolt-on GT. Even a 10.1:1 compression ratio. You would have to have a killer top end to catch a time like that spinning off the line. My best time on street tires was a 13.4 and if I launched any harder than 1500, I spun like hell. You will definetly need some good tires to hit 12's IMO.

So I should expect what, mid 13's then??? Don't the PI heads/intake on pre99 GT's have a higher compression ratio? If so why is this? Does this make more HP?

With regular tires, and you get the heads ported and polished I would say you would be in the mid to low 13's. Thats just because you wont be able to launch hard without spinning. You may have a good motor making all kinds of power, but if you cant lay it down then you're going no where.
