Don't the Mach 1's just have the TR3650 or whatever transmission the mid '01 and up GT's have ?
And I would assume that the 99's, and at least some of the '01's have the T45..... wouldn't some of the later '01 Models have the same transmission as the Mach 1?

mach is good, but beware it does NOT have a built bottom end like the cobras do(at least 03 cobras), it has a gt built bottom end. I have heard numerous stories of people thinking their mach is a cobra motor and throw a 150 shot on it and KABOOM!!

99 Cobras with the fix live up to the 320 hp that they were originally rated at. So long as money is not an issue, I guess you would choose the 01 cobra over the 99, but you can count on forking over another 2 or 3 thousand AT LEAST.
I know the original question that this thread posed was "which would you prefer?" But really the question should be "which would you buy?" The answer to that question, at least for me, is the 99 Cobra without a doubt. I got mine for $12.5k . You can't get a Mach for anywhere near that price. All that money that I saved will go a long way towards F/I.

The 01 Cobra had all the problems worked out and makes 320hp. The Mach however is rated at 305hp. The plus side to it though is that solid rear axel. The Cobra has the IRS and that's more of a pain in the a** to work on than the solid. If I had to make the choice, I would go with the Mach. I got mymach for 17.2k with 14k on the clock.. How many miles were on you cobra when you bought it at 12.5k!?

I got my 99' cobra about two weeks ago for 11,100 with 92k miles on the clock and 35k miles on the engine with documents to prove it. It also came with the mods in my sig. The car is red with a tan interior and is in excellent condition.
