Hey guys.....I have royal purple in my 97 gt and everytime I go to check the oil I cant really tell a reading with the dip stick. Is it so thin and liquidy that It doesnt register well. I know I dont have any oil leaks or anything. How many quarts do you guys put in?

i seem to be able ot ready mine its pretty clear but after you whipe the dipstick its pretty much the only part that is still wet, i use 5w-30 and put about 4 1/2 quarts in. comes out to almost max.

Up to 01, it should be 5 qts with the filter swap. The easiest way to tell is if your stock oil fill neck is on the driver side, its 5 qts, and if its on the pass side, its 6 qts, thats 01 and up.

I have the same problem. It is hard to tell what the level is on the dipstick when it is new oil. The early 4.6s took 6 qts. Thatis what my 96 takes anyway.

The book on the early modulars is 5 qts, what it holds may vary. Like I said, the book says if the neck is on driver side its 5, pass its six, may hold more, but thats the book.

I was looking into switching to royal purple,has anyone actually notice any different in performance or likewise?

I noticed a difference whenI went from generic chevron to royal purple.Probably the same asthe rest of the high performance stuff.

in the 96 gt i know it calls for 6 qts

Just let it get REALLY dirty. Then you'll be able to see it better. JK
