Default Trans help?!?!?!

Hey all.

Since the day I got my car ('03 GT, 5 spd.) I have been complaining about the clutch/trans.

Ford keeps telling me that there is nothing wrong, but there fuggin well is...... so I took it to a local performance guy.

He says the trans oil is full of metal and looks like red paint!

The car only has about 12,000 miles on it.

Were there any recalls on my trans?

What do they call it when they don't issue a recall, but they still recognize that there is a problem?

I have FRPP 4.10s and they were installed by the dealer.

I believe it's called a "silent" recall. Means exactly that, they won't publicize the problem to save face, but they will fix the problem under warranty. Call up your local Ford garage and demand they fix it.

Oh I called them already. I was understandably kinda pissy

The car is going in first hing in the morning. I was just hoping to get some input from you guys before I go because I don't trust the fuggers now.

Why wouldn't they, at least, LOOK at the trans oil?

Cool off, settle down, have a few beers and relax. I got a call from my Ford dealer, and they replaced all the guts of my 03 Mach1 Tremec tranny for free. It seems the syncronizers are either weak or not the right ones, especisally the ones going from 2nd to third. So, they replaced all the guts, and now it shifts just fine even at any speeds over 5K RPM. I found it amusing though, that when I got the car home, and they had put all the replaced parts in a bucket and put it in my trunk, that several cogs were missing from my 3rd gear. Hee Hee. Nah , I don't drive it like it was stolen.

popping out of 2nd and 3rd gear grinding problems with the early 3650 trannies... theirs a TSB out for them, they replace those gears and syncro's I believe and put less fluid in - not sure exactly whats done but it is an issue Ford is aware of but only fixes for those who complain enough.

Believe me, I complained enough. My brother-in-law was the salesman who sold me the car, so yeah, there was some inside connection involved. It costs Ford about a grand to do the work, but just stay on their butts until it is accomplished. The problem I had was not one of popping out of 2nd or third, it was not being able to shift to third from second at any speed over 5K RPM. I kept getting the runaround about not abusing the car, but then I kept coming back with their advertisements that the Mustang Mach 1 was their hotrod. I finally won, but it took some effort.

i have an 03 gt and i have a problem with my trans too, well i think its a problem. it used to be rare but now it happens all the time. when my clutch is out the trans makes a squeaky/ticking noise. kinda like when you used to put a baseball card on your bike wheels, so its a rotating noise, but what the hell is it. its only when the clutch is out and doesnt matter if the car is moving or not. i havent taken it to the dealership yet because it used to just be random and i knew with my luck it wouldnt happen there. but im gonna take it in as son as i can now.

Your tranny won't make any ticking noise in neutral.

Your throw-out bearing would make a squeeking noise though, maybe you should get a long screw driver and put it over your valve covers and stick your ear to it and see if you got an internal problem in your engine.

but if the clutch pedal is out, then the clutch is engaged and the trans is "conected" to the engine right? so even if im not moving, if the clutch is out the driveshaft is spinning the trans. so if its only when the clutch is engaged then it would make sense that its part of the trans? plus the noise is most prevelent from the front drivers side wheel well and under the car near the trans.

thanks Joe. I'm learning that, apparently, there are some bearing issues involved too.

Thanks for hijacking the thread Shaggy.
