Default Burning oil

Hey im new to this site and i do not know a whole lot about cars. Anyway i purchased a 1997 cobra recently and when i got it it ran fine no oil was burning, but soon after i got it i changed the oil, i put royal purple in it. About a week later i noticedthat the carwas burning a little bit of oil. I was thinking why it would burn oil and a friend told me that maybe its burning because the synthetic oil is thinner than regular conventional oil, andimasumming thats what the owner i bought it from ran in it. Is this a resonable explanation or do i sound like an idoit, any information will help. Thanks

not so much as it it being "thinner" but sometimes reg oil will act kinda like a gasket and when you switch to syn it loses that "seal" and start to blow through. might try some kinda additive like that restore in a silver can. or go up a weight
