He...you think THATS bad...

Last time I did my oil change, Ipulled the filter(luckily not too much oil came out), drained the oil....but then, for someODD STUPID reasonI got in the car and started her up for about 12 seconds, when it hit me.......I FORGOT TO PUT NEW OIL IN!!!!!!

I FREAKED out...shut it off, then poured more oil in, and started her up and it was fine...

I took nitroglycerin pills that night....[&o]

I just did the "double O ring" a couple of weeks ago! I had oil spillingall over the driveway! [:@]Something didn't feel right when I put the oil filer on and I thought maybe I did a cross-thread.Mine ran for about 30 seconds before I noticed.I will always check the oil filer gasket now!!!

Been there. Done that.

Back in the college days, hit the green monster, decided to change the oil. Forgot to put the oil pan plug back in. About the last quart of new oil being poured in, I see a river of oil at my feet. DOH!

I wasn't too concerned about the mess, it was in an apartment complex parking lot. Shovel some dirt on it and walk away....

i thought you couldn't blow a motor w/o a load (ie idle) unless you revved it,so, assuming i'm right, you probably could of ran it at idle with no oil (given, it had oil in it at one time)

I got a story that'll make you feel better... I was working at Ford when the kid in the bay next to me (who just got out of tech school so he thought he knew everything) changed a guy's oil and was going to do a trans flush afterwards. Well, he hooked the lines up for the trans flush and was running the car for about 15 minutes until it was complete. Then he took the lines off and started it up again to check fluid level. When he got in it again to start it to back it out he saw the "Low Oil" light was on and it was then that he realized that he didn't put the oil in [&:]. Needless to say he was fired that day.

haha, ive done that one before on my ranger. the old O ring on the other filter stayed on the motor and once I put the new filter on, it shot everywhere. Mine ran for about 20 seconds. Trust me, its a mistake you only do once....
+10

I did it too, many years ago when I was a young whippersnappper[&:]

No harm done with that little time.
