Default Hose My Engine

Is it OK to hose down your engine compartment. Should I cover anything or leave it running?

NO!! if you hose it down while its hot.. youre asking for trouble!!

Edit: The best way to cool it down (dunno why youd wanna do it this way) would be to spray the front of the radiator while its running, but even this isnt a great idea. Hot metal containing hot liquid exposed to cold water = disaster waiting to happen

No problem, I'll hose it while its cold. Is there any issues with the water going anywhere I don't want it to go?

water will get under your coil packs. I had to unplug each one and let them dry. other than that I had no problems.

I've always been to spray it off when its cold. Although its not a big deal if its a little warm. But you do want to avoid the air filter, fuse box/electrical ****, and the COPs as much as possible.

Your engine needs to be warm for any degreaser to work properly, follow the GUNK can directions.
I sprayed mine down while it was warm and running and I let it run for a while after. It got it all nice and clean. Try and keep water off the electrical as much as possible.
I did get water where it wasn't supposed to go as it was hesitating like a bitch for a while later. The next day it was fine after it dried out.

Water could gather at the spark plug jackets and leak into the motor. I'd have some towels or napkins ready to soak that up and put garbage bags over the electrical parts.
