Default HELP!!!!!!!!! please

My plan is to buy my brothers mustang, but i dont really like the engine it has. It has the 3.8L. The car is a 1999 model. I would like to switch the engineof a 4.6Lfrom aGT. My plan for the car is NOT dragbut a street car to use everyday. i want to have a car with some good ponys behind it (about 400hp).By switching the engine, what other mods do i have to look into. I thought i read the 3.8 and the 4.6 have the same tranny and engine mounts, but i'm not to sure. I know that to put a 5.0 i have to switch the computer, engine, tranny, and maybe the differantal. I not to sure. I'm open to all options... The reason it the the 3.8. is not to stong and it give just a little more gas mileage... I willbe running the 3.8. untill i have the other engine fixed up decently and/or the 3.8 gives. but its in good condition still so i'm in no hurry of fixing the other... So if you could please help me out with your thoughts of what i should do. Thank a bunch!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah but idk i think i can get more juice out of a 4.6 then a 3.8. I would have to do more mod to the 3.8. then the 4.6. go get the same power. So i plan on buying a good used GT engine in a junk yard and fixing it then when i'm done just drop it right in. but like i said i'm no hurry on building the other one cuz the engine i have now its still in very good condition.

uhh...you need 400hp for a daily driver that you arent going to race? the stock GT has more than enuff power to get around town with.

you will need a blower on the v8 to get 400hp anyways unless you buy like every N/A performance mod (camshaft, heads, everything)

so i gotta ask, are you gonna race it and your just not wanting to tell us cuz u think the cops will find out or what?

the 3.8 is a turd, however its more suitable for daily driving (gas mileage). it would behoov you to just go pick up a GT as the VIN on a V6 will show it was originally a V6, and if you swap engines.. it wont do anything for the value of the car in the future if you want to trade it in, might even hurt the value.

depending on how much youre paying for the 3.8 you could always go pick up a pre99 GT and do a PI swap. i say stay away from that pushrod turd

there is nothing wrong with a V6.. but this guy wants power (obviously) pushrods are great to work on (especially the 5.0) and the V6 stang is the only V6 id drive. 190HP is 190HP.. but 260HP is also 260HP. if you want real power.. try to find a good deal on an LS1 or LT1

well my brother is selling it to me for 5000. there is nothing wrong with the car, but since we are family, that's the reason why its a little cheap. it has a body kit and wheels already, comes with a good sound system too. its just that he has put some money that he is not going to get back if he sells it to some one else. and also, i am going to race it, but that is not what i'm mosly going to use it for. i just like to have power, so that's the reason why i want a v8 gt engine. there already good and yes lalet on get the blower.

If you're going to swap an engine, why not a 4V ? Ha ha... If you go to the 3.8 section, I'm sure someone there can help you better than we can here.

Its also only got a 7.5" rear, not an 8.8" Start adding v8 power and get ready to rebuild that too. Id skip it and just get a GT to start with. Youll need a new rear bumper for the dual exhaust too.
