Default installing a pushrod and away with the modular

I would love to throw my modular engine in the garbage and put in a 5.0L like the 94-95gt's. I know it can be done, but I need my car to pass Federal emissions and the cut-off is 96+ because of the OBDII. What can I do make this work properly and pass emissions test when I get inspected? Did Ford make a 5.0L after 1996 where I could use that computer? Thanks

Weren't the 5.0s in explorers up to 2001 or so? Why do you want to do this anyways?

Because the 4.6L mod motors are a pain to work with and very expensive at that. They cost an arm and a leg for little hp increase! You can spend $1200 on a 5.0 with a head swap and pick up 60hp. Try doing that on a mod motor! You need a whole lot of stuff or a s/c'er to get those numbers. Also a headswap on 5.0L motors don't have that stupid idea of a timing cover to get them off either.

Pushrod is cheaper to build by far and easier to work on. My step brother just build a 510 rear wheel fox for 8 grand, had to engine to start with.

All that work to do your DOHC swap and now you want to go backwards Hang in there is will be worth it when it's all done

Depending on how crazy your inspection is - if the inspector can verify the engine you installed came out of an older car- it'll fail. But I highly doubt you'd run into that problem.

It's going to take some work to get a 302 in your car, probablyin the same ballpark as itwould be for forged internals & bumping your 100shot to a 200.
