I want to regear now, but stil
Hey everyone, I've been doing tons of reading, an research, but I still have not had a first hand experience w/a geared 4.6L GT. I have driven in two 5.0, but our engines rev more, so I believe I can put a higher gearing on mine. I've posted questions about the 3.73 vs the 4.10 before, so here's my next one: Is there anybody in the Chicagoland, or the NW Indiana region that has a 4.6L w/either gear that would not mind taking me for a spin, so I can see how I like it? I don't want to waste money, and I'm just about done w/everything else I want to do. Thanks</P>

One thing to keep in mind, generally it you plan on adding a power adder (supercharger or nitrous) go with the 3.73, otherwise 4.10 is a good choice. That is, if you don't want to totally kill your gas mileage on the highway.

I've a 5spd, and have been leaning towards 3.73's. Gas mileage was something I have been trying to keep in mind. However, on another forum I have been bombarded w/a little less openmindedness, and forcefed "4.10's," or "4.30's." I am not going w/4.30's, but have begun to wonder about those 4.10's more. Thanks

4:10 is the best bang for your buck my friend has 4:30s theyre real good but burns a lot of gas im going to get 4:10s soon which will be good because we have an overdrive trans (5th gear)

newer 4.6's have a real low 5th gear, like .63 or something...</P>
with stock wheels and tires, 4.10's would put you at 2900 rpm or so at 80 mph, thats not too bad, especially if you don't drive that fast on the interstate</P><edited><editID>mdvaldosta</editID><editDate>37885.9269791667</editDate></edited>

Well, I may end up w/those 4.10's<IMG src=smileys/smiley16.gif border="0">. It seems that they are where everyone (generally) feels would work best for me. I DO drive fast on the e-way though, but the Stang is not my only ride, so maybe I should not be so concerned about the gas mileage.
