Nice post Jeed. However the use of the PI altenator bracker is not needed, the NPI will work fine. I highly reccomend getting the lockar dipstick tube because getting the stocker back in sucks. If you can get away with out having to do emmisions checks get an EGR delete, makes life a little easier. Timing the engine isn't hard, but deff DO NOT DO IT HOW CHILTONS OR HAYNES TELLS YOU TO. I've seen several engines destroyed thanks to them.

I love my PI swap. I wouldn't do anything more then PI cams, put that $600 towards longtube headers or any other bolt on you don't have. I made 265whp and 306tq with just a pi swap, pulleys , t/b and pl, catless mid pipe, catback + tune. LT's and an electric water pump should have me around 290ish, but I'm going the n2o route.

exactly right. the dipstick is retarded and you have to either put it in at the same time as you put the heads in or your screwd by either taking the whole head off or losening the motor mount to push it up a little to slide it in. or buy the flexible dipstick for $50 bucks and be done w/ it.

same here +1 on not getting aftermarket cams! i'd rather get something else for $600 + $250 for new valve springs to support the new cams.

in a way thats somewhat of a good price and how do you know how many miles those heads had before they were taken off? could be 12k could be 150k and could've been off a wrecked car, you never know, but its alot cheaper if you peice it all together like i did $700 for the whole swap which is less than half that ebay price and i also got a valve job done to the heads.

also a buddy of mine on SN95 Forums he got his full pi swap + bbk shorties for like 500$ off craigslist and just needed to get the heads reconditioned n such to be able to put them on the block so he got an even better deal.

so my advice to you is to piece it together and you'll be glad you saved money! and are you installing it yourself or having a shop do it?
