Default exhaust wrap

here's some creative thinking for ya'll. i've already got my exhaust wrapped to cut down on temps (major pain in the ***). but wat about wrappin my intake?? i fabbed it up and painted itmyself. would it help to avoid heat soke and keep the air coolby wrapping it, or just be a waste of weight??

Honestly, I wouldn't waste the time and money. I don't think it'll make enough difference to count.

The only real way to tell would be to dyno it w/out it wrapped, and then dyno it with it wrapped... I could maby see it doing 1wrhp tops...

thats what i said "hmmm" for. it may be fun just to see if helps. I've wrapped everything on 3000GT (turbos, headers, downpipe, intake, IC pipes) and it helped trememdouslywith underhood and engine temps. i know it helped hp wise, but i don't remember how much....but granted, it is a TWIN TURBO, not a NA 4.6L V8. i think i'll try it in the near future just to see.

IMO wrapping the intake would be a bad idea. The underhood temps, espcially on a non turbo car, are not THAT high, and the intake doesn't come that close to the exhaust which is whats really hot. Wrapping the intake could very well have the opposite effect... heat from the engine could soak up the intake and the wrap would prevent it from cooling off.

If you have aftermarket headers that you wraped then start saving for a new set. There is a reason header manufactures void any warranty on headers if they are wrapped. The wrap not only holds the heat in but also hold in water in the wrap. In about a year the only thing holding the headers togather will be the wrap. Wrap is ment for race cars only not street driven cars.

+1 on what OX said. You would get better results from Ceramic Coating the headers.
