Said it better than I could have. On a stock motor, it's simply a waste of money to do a chip first.

The diablo chip comes with a peformance tune. when I get my major mods ill still have to purchase a custom tune.No one is going to dyno tune your car for free just because you purchased a chip. So what difference does it make if a buy my chip now or later, you still pay more for tune regardless of when the major mods are made. In the case of somone doing a gear change, yes it would be wise to do the gear change first because the speedo can be recalibrated with peformance tune on a Diablo so there may be some circumstances where buying the chip first isn't wise.(im not changing gears). As for a timing adjuster, I dont think it adjusts your timing curve or your A:F ratio. IMOeven the stock timing curve could be better. And yes by the end of the day who knows hoy many times a chip will have to be re-burned.Mods are constantly changing. I know all of this is way off topic but I thought id address the comment of someone being a retard on needing to be smacked for buying a chip first, which is what I did. anyone on here not bringing helpful of insightful info to the table but rather insults and b.s. needs to slapped. Anyone wanting to slap me should be prepared to bring a lunch. And now for a word from our sponsors............................

1st off why buy a chip anyway?...if you buy from a local tuner you have to chase after him if he or you move because he has your data..buy something that data logs and you can down load yourself...you can go to the dyno and have all your changes made thier then thier down loaded on a 'puter..so your set and all have it ..this also lets you used a nice big 90-100mm maf that come of lightening trucks.as you can set it for what ever injector size you used...no need even for a reburn for a pro-m..their dime a dozen now

Vfast, I truely respect eveyones point of view and theres pros and cons to damn near everything. My point is this, not everyone has the same level of knowledge and as far as when a chip is purchased. After all, thats relative. It may or may not be the only mod that person does to his/her car.It still IMO a good buy.Go to other forums and see how many seasoned car veterans have chips and ask them when thy bought it,if it was a good buy, and how many times do they make changes to their cars that will require re-burns or retunes. But just because you do it first rather than last, it doesnt make you a retard and I certainly wouldn't slap you.Beside, you may be bigger than me.

my point is ..don't buy a chip due to the fact of the reburns..buy a twEEcer or PMS , or a EEC unit..it can still be your first and last mods...this will save you big $$$$$ why pay 300 for a chip then 2 month later 75 for a reburn when the 3 ex I gave you will do the same...I don't disagree with you on the chip but there are other choices to get where you want to go..hope you see my point. another ex..check out fordchip.com...they are worried about the others being able to data log as they have started a new line coming out...data log gives you real time adjustments and you can even tune it for the track and still have your street tunes..in the next year or too...this will be the only route to go as the new 2003 on take well to these items..because ford isn't going to give up all thier data to these chip makers
