Default 5spd Fluid level

What fluid and how much are people using in their trans? I have a 3650 and thinking of running royal purple, and other ideas? How much, I know Tremec reccomends 3.2 qts or something close to that, but I'v heard people say that 2-2.5 is fine and reduces noise..is that true??

Fill until you can put your finger in the fill plug and get some on your finger. All motors and transmissions will vary a little from case to case.

Between 3 and 3.5 quarts usually does the trick for a 3650.

What brand fluid are you running, I did mine not too long ago and seems loud to me, I ran Mobile ATF in it.

I have a T-45 and ran Mobil 1 Mercon V i think. I put in 3.3qts and have no issues at all. easy shifting even when hot. I have heard a little less fluid will make your 1st and reverse gears easier to grab at a stand still. I think you should be at 3qts.

I just did the transmission oil on my tr3650 and it took about 3.5 qts, i was suprised about how much fluid it took, when the book says about 3qts.

I'm going to change mine again, last I did it it took almost 4 and still did not come out the fill plug, and I've heard if overfilled it can cause excessive noise, mine isn't real loud, but a little noisey until warmed up a bit

OK there was a big thread posted on the 3650 about 2-3 months ago. They recommened and most everyone came into agreement that 3.0 litres or 3.2 qts is good. Anymore can cause issues, if you fill it to lert the excess run out the fill plug, you will have a hard shifting and noisy 3650. As far as fluid goes, Ford recomended to me some kinf of ATF. Some put synchromax, Mobil 1, RP, personally I go with Royal Purple ATF, its free at work, lol

Well mine went to 4qts before it came to the line. I'm using Royal Purple Synchromax and its not noisy and doesnt feel hard to shift. Is it bad that it took 4 qts? I dont know but it seems fine to me.
