Spec Stage 3 review
I got my Stage 3 clutch installed this weekend and drove it yesterday. All the hype about it being impossibly hard to drive with that clutch, I think, is a bit of an exageration. I didn't stall once when driving it, almost, but didn't. It does rattle when taking off from a stop, but it is fine otherwise. That is normal for break in. The pressure it takes to operate it is a bit more than what the stock one would be, but I don't think it is going to be too hard to drive it. I can see where it would be really irritating in stop and go traffic, though. I'm happy with the purchase. It wasn't much of a surprise when I tried it, though, because nanki let me play with his before I bought it. So if you're thinking about getting one, go ahead and do it. It isn't that bad.
Now, while you're here, I'll tell a funny story. There is a reason I didn't drive the car that much on Saturday. I backed out of Excessive and drove off just fine. I got to a major intersection and had quite a few cars all around me including one person behind me that just doesn't understand it's not a good idea to tailgate someone in a car with a manual transmission. Now, I don't like the way this clutch releases. It is just like the one on stock Mustangs, but my old one was different. I liked my old one, but I don't know what it was. Anyway, I had to get on the throttle and off the clutch kind of quick to avoid backing into the car behind me and when I did, the car kind of jumped I heard a bit of a POP! Then I heard this really loud, cool sounding exhaust from some car. I thought it was another Mustang around me, seeing as the place I came from does ONLY mustangs. I was looking for that car, but didn't find it. I pulled into the resturaunt and still heard this exhaust but I had no cars around me. I was like "wait a minute." I pumped the gas and sure enough, that loud sound was comming from my car! I have a stock exhaust and it NEVER sounds like that. So I took it back to the shop and found out that the bolts on the headers snapped off entirely! I literally had no exhaust for a while! I left the car with them after they worked for an hour to weld more bolts on the header and started swearing when it broke off again
I just told them to leave it alone and do it on Monday. I just thought that was kind of funny.

give that clutch a good 1000-1500 miles before that rattling is completely gone. try not to show off in front of any hot females until it goes away. it's hard to look cool when your car is going bumpbumpbumpbump.

And wgdt21, that's exactly what I was thinking! I was just like "who does that?" I gotta admit, though, it's the best my car has ever sounded
