Your better off buying a 96-98 complete swap like I did! That or get an 99-01 swap w/320hp Either way, it's gonna cost you more than you realize! Everything bolts up the sme no matter what year the engine came from!

That thing will sell for at least 7 grand.

Please don't make a Fobra.....

+ it would be cheaper to just sell it and buy a 4v cobra

Its not cheaper for a real cobra actually. The 96-98 cobra engine is under 4000 on ebay with under 70,000 miles and a warranty.

you can buy a cobra motor almost all day long for 1500-2000, and if your like me you going to tear it apart anyway and put some internals in it - so yeah its not cheaper at all

Why is everyone against a Fobra? Shelby himself has put the cobra emblem on everything from a two-seat foriegn import to a Ford Torino and four-cylinder Dodge. His company is currently selling everything you need to convert an 07 GT to look like a GT-500 except the signature plate. His companyalso buysreplica bodies of the original two-seat Cobra for their own production line. Ford sells SVT and Cobra emblems to anyone who wants to buy them. So, if its OK with the guys that brought us the Cobra, why all the heartburn?

My thought are if you want to put Cobra emblems on a GT then go for it. Shelby would.
Id rather people be like "Man, that was a fast GT" then "Man, that was a slow cobra"
I agree. But if others want to do something different, that is up to them. I once thought about converting my GT into a Cobra. Besides thecosmetic stuff, you have to change the suspension, seats, steering wheel, etc.Since some Cobra drivers are replacing the IRS with a live axle that could be left alone. And in the end you still have the resell value of a GT. I prefer putting my money in performance mods.
