new spec 1 clutch, it chatters ????
I just installed a spec 1 clutch kit in my 96 GT. It has chattered bad since day 1. I called spec, they said drive it some more. It now has 600 miles of stop and go driving!!! Has anyone else had this happen? How soon does it go away? The guy at spec acted like I'm the only one with this prob.?? BTW I had flywheel resurfaced and put ina new FRPP TOB. Thanks.

Nanki told me that his didn't stop until around 1500 miles or so. However, I've had mine for around 300 miles and it has all but stopped chattering. I've been trying to take the friggen squeak away by tightening the clutch cable to the fork and that seems to take away some of the chatter. That, and I am probably burning through this clutch in learning how to drive it! That may have something to do with it.

I've been told that you will get that when you install new clutches. I don't know, but will soon find out since my clutch is finally starting to act like it wants to be replaced.

Yes, I played around with the cable adjustment also, but no luck there. I do like the way the clutch bites when launching. Its just a PITA cause the whole car vibrates.

I had chatter when first installed, but for the most part it went away. Breaking in the clutch in stop and go traffic might not be the best way to go about breaking in a new clutch. The SPEC tech I talked to stated that it may take up to 3000 miles to break in. I still got the smell of burnt clutch when I got on the throttle even after 1800 miles on the clutch. The tech said that was normal.

when I called spec they said proper breakin is 500 miles, prefferably stop and go driving. I guess i will call them again since i have 600 miles and it still chatters.
