Default how to set a replacement odometer?

recently, my odometer on my 96 crapped out and bought a used one here in town and need to find out how to move it forward 8k miles to make it correct. anyone have a link or instructions on how to do so? thanks in advance, take care

There should be a chip of some sort you are supposed to take off the old one and put it in the new one to make it read what the old one said. I may be wrong though.

96 didnt have digital speedo, so no chip will fix it, i dont know how you could do it, maybe find what makes it turn over the numbers and turn it like bitch with a drill or something, i dunno

you can't... not without fooking it up. your "supposed" to put a sticker on the door and a notation on the title... but if it were me I'd just leave it [sm=goodidea.gif]

You could take it to a dealer and show them the old odometer and they will put a tag on your door to note what the correct miles on the vehicle should be if you dont wanna be breaking them laws. I dont think they will put up any fuss about that since you are actually "increasing" the miles on your vehicle.
