Turning By Hand AFTER Draining Oil?
Like the title states, I want to know if it's bad to turn the engine by hand after you have drained it of oil.
I am going to be removing the head, and therefore I need to drain the oil and the coolant.
BUT, I need to know if it's okay to drain the oil before putting the #1 piston at top dead center.
I know I can just go out and try to put it at TDC now, and THEN drain the oil, but I'd still like to be able to be able to turn the crank by hand after draining the oil incase I didn't get it exactly where it needs to be.
Information/Experiance would be awesome.
Thanks guys,
Clint

RE: Turning By Hand AFTER Draining Oil?
Actually I read somewhere that I would need to drain the oil. I'm not sure why, or where I'm going to come into contact with it, but that's what the Haynes manual said, I believe.
If not, I had to change the oil anyways for the winter storage.
:-) Coolant next, anyone know how? I'm lazy and don't fee like reading.

Maybe they think you're trying to take the heads off while the car is still running
