i said stock engine you better check again to be stock its around 6-8 psi of boost...the weakest link in the 4.6 is the connecting rods which tend to break around 450hp so a safe conservetive tune would call for 6-8 psi....on cobras they have better internals and heads so 10 psi would be safe
Worng again... cobras (other than termi's) have about the same internals. HP max out at around 425rwhp. MAx Safe boost is 10lbs Max RWHP is about 425 on a Dynojet which ever comes first. Use the search button, find the sticky's... Or PM any moderator and ask them. Everyone thats not a noobie knows, "which ever comes first 10lbs or 425 on stock internals"
i'mcalling[sm=bs.gif]its 450rwhp when things start coming apart 425 will last a while thats why I said 6-8 psi WTF this arguing is retarded....lets agree to disagree
6-8psi should put you around 380-right at 400 rwhp depending on your other mods which is why i said 6-8psi is "SAFE" if they listened to you they'd blow their $hit up...
Sorry I wasn't arguing... 425 is safe, thats what I was saying! Several of my friends are happy with 420-428rwhp on a dynojet. Anything past that is what I was saying, isn't safe. How are you getting 425 from 6-8lbs psi?
a mustang cobra and a mustang gt have the same rods... the crank and pistons are different... the rods in the gt is a weak point so it is in the cobra. the higher compression in them makes it not as safe to run more boost without a higher octane gas. a cobra has 10:1 while a GT has 9.4:1 compression... 6-8 psi is the most i'd run on a stock cobra..... only ten if you tuner knows what the hell he is doin and isnt making to much torque to break something. a gt can do 10 psi just because of the fact its a lower compression... both boosted will have about the same power....

people have popped their motor at less than 450rwhp... there are some factory freaks out there that can hold it.... i made 440rwhp for over a year without any problems till my valve guides went bad. other than that... not many cars will make it to the 450rwhp mark. i will say 400 is the safe mark... most shops you talk too will say that. but you can push it alittle to around 425.... once you get to about 450 you are a ticking time bomb.
thats what i mean i know the rods are the same the crank and pistons are forgedbut conservativley you can run 10 psi on a cobra as long as its not a aggressive(RACE) tune
