T45 on the edge of destruction?

Like I said, after blowing thru 2 T-45 with less than 280 WHP at anytime on either of them.. I would never own another car with that excuse for a trans.
There are lucky people like yourself and ZW with em out there, but on the whole they are junk. Far more people have trouble blowing out snycs (and then the entire gear) on even stock powerlevels than don't.
So far as the TKO shifting problem... I dunno. Its the first I have ever heard of it, and I have a hard time beileving this is a problem and people arn't complaining about it/getting refunds/repairs from tremec. If its not coming out of gear it sounds more like a suction problem via the clutch than the trans itself. I can only say I have never had a problem with it, its super smooth, and if you do it right it shifts itself. Maybe the people having trouble are just used to a the 45 where you need to work out to shift it quickly lol.

Like I said, you are lucky. I know of several that aren't . The T-45 is as good as the driver. Mine lasted over 200 passes before I botched upa shift and broke a shift fork. I put 550 rwtq through mine on a regular basis. A good clutch disengagement is also vital. I would go with a ProMotion T-45 before any trans swap out there. That's just my opinion and I know you have yours.[8D]

A friend of mine had a TKO-500 in a pretty sick foxbody. It went out on him within a couple of racing weekends. He called Tremec and told them about his troubles. Tremec told him that the TKO trannies "were not designed to be shifted above 6000rpm"
He's got a built to hell T-5 now, and loves it from what I've heard.

I guess I will find out how well it shifts above 6 after I do the shortblock with the new Redline. In any case, the TKO is still better by about x1000000 than any T-45 ever built, and regardless what anyone thinks of the TKO the 45 is a pile of junk.
I wouldn't be swapping trans before the stocker went to hell and stopped driving totally.. but after spending money twice on T-45 fixes I would never do it again. You might get lucky, get a "factory freak" that lasts awhile, but nothing is changing a weak gearset and totally junk syncros.
edit: Notice that post was in 2005... and his sig still shows him running low 10s in his cobra with the TKO still in there...

Whatever works. I just know that mine, and a WHOLE lot of other forum members didnt, even at near stock power levels.
I have talked to one person that broke a TKO... guy down at the lake busted a input shaft on one so he upgraded to the 26T setup and never had another problem.

I have a friend that broke his input shaft on his 3650, he swear it was caused by his Spec Stage 3. I've had great luck with my Spec Stage 2 in the past but when it was time to upgrade I went with a McLeod because I didn't want to take a chance on my input shaft, maybe I'm just paranoid.

I ripped a 4 puck SPEC stg 3 clutch to smithereens and put 2 holes in the bellhousing of my T-45R. Yeah, I'm still using it and it stillhandles shifts like a beast. My problem now is the King Cobra clutch that doesn't like all the F/I power in front of it.

Someone said I may have cracked a shift fork...which means it ready to break no? So when it breaks is it done for good?

once it breaks you just wont have 3-4 gear. broke mine at the track, drove it 100miles back home.
pulled the tranny, pulled it apart and replaced the shift fork a bearing or two and some push pins and threw put it back together. Not impossible but its all about having the tools, time and orginization to put it back in the same you pulled
i just dont powershift anymore
