You probably cracked a shift fork. Easy fix[8D] TKO's shift like dump trucks

TKO > all, including the shifter/shifting. Simply put, after driving and shifting every type of transmission put in a mustang for the last 15+ years none of them even come close to the TKO, including the 56.

I'd take a fox's T5 over the POS T45 ford put in my cobra...I wonder how much longer I have before it completely gives up...I thought that was it today, but I got it "unstuck"

I know of several of them that won't take a 6000rpm power-shift to 3rd gear. If yours does you're just lucky from what I see.....most of them don't. A search on any major Mustang site will comfirm this[8D]

If someone has an issue with shifting at 6K then they need to call up tremec and bitch, something is wrong with their TKO. Its the first time I have heard of this issue.

Hell, thats the only RPM it gets shifted at while racing (6000+) and I have yet to have it miss a shift unless I screw up. The only complaint I have is that the shifter is almost too sensitive.. it doesn't like someone to meat hand it around, you have to have a light touch and just basically let it shift itself. After you get used to it though... nothing is sweeter.

Edit: The 45 is a total pile of junk. On boltons only power levels I went thru 2 in a period of less than a year, and that was with very minmal power shifting/speed shifting. Every once in a while someone gets lucky, but on the whole the 45 simply cannot handle being beat on with an agressive driver.

Like I said, you are lucky. I know of several that aren't . The T-45 is as good as the driver. Mine lasted over 200 passes before I botched upa shift and broke a shift fork. I put 550 rwtq through mine on a regular basis. A good clutch disengagement is also vital. I would go with a ProMotion T-45 before any trans swap out there. That's just my opinion and I know you have yours.[8D]

I will most certainly be "rebuilding" by T-45 if and when it ever goes out on me. I'm coming up on 108k miles and she couldn't be any healthier.

To the OP, my T-45 has done that about 4 times. Just put your foot up on the dash, and rip that bitch out. I've seriously been pissed off at my car and halfass attempted to break my T-45 and it just won't have it. I like to RPM's constant at 5000 and practice powershifting 1-2 and then 2-3. I've messed up more times than I've done it right.

IMO, put some Penzoil or GM synchomesh in there. It really helped the smoothness of mine.

Like I said, after blowing thru 2 T-45 with less than 280 WHP at anytime on either of them.. I would never own another car with that excuse for a trans.

There are lucky people like yourself and ZW with em out there, but on the whole they are junk. Far more people have trouble blowing out snycs (and then the entire gear) on even stock powerlevels than don't.

So far as the TKO shifting problem... I dunno. Its the first I have ever heard of it, and I have a hard time beileving this is a problem and people arn't complaining about it/getting refunds/repairs from tremec. If its not coming out of gear it sounds more like a suction problem via the clutch than the trans itself. I can only say I have never had a problem with it, its super smooth, and if you do it right it shifts itself. Maybe the people having trouble are just used to a the 45 where you need to work out to shift it quickly lol.

same thing happened with my shift fork. it breaks where it meets the shift rod. It feels like it goes past third....and it basicly does. here is a pic.
