Default running lean - fuel problem

ok, so i broke down and took my car to Ford yesterday morning and got ittonight. they said i've got a faulty fuel pressure redugulator and fuel pump. i'd rather not go with OEM parts if i dont have to. any suggestions on an upgr ade for the fuel pressure regulator and fuel pump? and preferrably something that wont cause problems with check engine light or PCM.

Your car has a returnless fuel system. The fuel pump regulates the pressure so you don't have a fuel pressure regulator. You have an electronic sensor on the fuel rail that tells the computer how much pressure is present, when it's lower than it needs to be the computer sends more voltage to the pump making it pump harder. When it gets to the psi it needs to be at the pump will back down holding it there. I recommend you get a SVT focus pump and install it. I think that will fix your problem. If not then try replacing the sensor on the fuel rail.

ok, the tech at ford said the box on the fuel was a regulator and that it needed to be replaced, but whatever. are they are known problems with the SVT focuspump swap??

its is an easy swap, just swap out the electronic pump, it plugs right in and can support a decent amount of power... ive been running over 350 wheel on it for long while now

yea i got the focus pump its great and easy to install and as contentsunderpressur said if that doesnt fix the problem just get the senser, plus if u get the pump and u need the senser well then at least u will have the pump to back u up for future power mods.

490 to the wheels through a focus and BAP on safe tune but it is about at its limit.
