cobra engine swap
Ok i was thinking of doing a cobra32v engine swap in my car,or just doing a pi swap to my motor, have not made up my mind yet.
but what i like to know is,what all do i have to do to change out the motor, could i use my trans?can i use my ecu?do i have to change out
the motor mounts or will the one for my NPI engine work?any info will help. Thanks

RE: cobra engine swap
There are a few guys on here that have done the swap and are very happy with it. The block is the same so you don't need new motor mounts, unless they are damaged then you'll need some new ones. The trans will mount up fine, but if I were you, I would get a set of nice ported and polished heads and a set of stage 1 cams. I'd say stage 2 but I dont know when we start to run into valve to piston contact with the NPI motors. With a good tune, and full bolt ons, you can really make some good hp numbers. Thats just my opinion.[&:]

RE: cobra engine swap
You would need the 4v engine, wiring harness, and cobra ECU. Everything else you can reuse, motor mount positions are the same etc. If you can find a good deal on a 4v engine it really is worth it- a 4v with bolt ons will make as much power as a 2v with H/C

RE: cobra engine swap
You can get ur gt ecu tuned, you will ned the IMRCs deleted in the 4v motor, gt t45 will work, you will need a new flywheel and clutch, correct throttle cable and wiring, car looks good btw, but cobra motor swap comes before cobra badges.

RE: cobra engine swap
unless you get an 03-04 cobra block....your limit is still around 450 rwhp before you start breaking rods and/or pistons.
in which case a lot of us2V guys with built motors and blower/juicewould still be spankin you
no matter what you do...if you want big numbers, you gotta start digging in the motor....so just try and find the cheapest route.....my .02
