Stroker Question
Ok well my car still doesn't work and I have checked all wiring, fuses, took the starter out and had it checked (it needed to be replaced and was but still nothing). I took the belt off the car and tried starting it because I was told by someone that their compressor seized and it stopped the motor and it wouldn't restart. That didn't work. I tried turning the motor by hand with the belt off... didn't work. Tried pop starting it and the motor doesn't even make a noise. I checked the fuel cut off switch and that is fine. So I figure I am just going to drop if off at a mechanic I know. I have had my car there before and so has my buddy with the same year GT. They recently just rebuilt his motor and reconditioned his heads for 3400 bucks.
My question is, if this is the route I have to take, where is the best place to find a 5.0 stroker kit? Also is it worth the money?

RE: Stroker Question
If you cant turn the motor by hand you have problems. Call pro power performance for the stroker kit at the best price you will find. I bought my internals thru them. And no a stroker kit is not worth the money.

RE: Stroker Question
stroker kit increases your displacement by exchanging the crank with one that has the rod journals (throws) placed farther away from the main journals.
its pretty much a bottom end kit, the rods need to be shorter to compensate for the increased crank throw, they come with pistons as well.

RE: Stroker Question
Yeah I found this site http://www.modmaxracing.com/stroker.htmI would get the high compression cause I don't think I am going FI. When I get done school that's when I am going to buy my fast car. My GT now is just a little toy to get me by. So Ox you don't think it's worth it?

RE: Stroker Question
No its not worth it these motors have **** loads of stroke as it is and really get nothing out of having more. What these motors need is bore size. If you get a block with 3.7 big bore and use a stock stroke rotating assembely which will give you 5.0L you will see very good gains. Its just a money difference. But MMR sells a a 5.4L block that has 3.7 bores which gives you 351cid and its wet sleeved. I'll tell you how that works out in about 15 months.
