i would say more of a power shift. Down real low there would be less power, but you would gain it back and more up top, especially if you add other modifications to the mix.

the bassani midpipe is awesome. if you have the cash you can get the catted one with cats that bolt in and straight pipes that bolt in. Best of both worlds.
Just fyi if you are running rich at all you will probably smell it, not sure if that would bother you or not.

x pipes are marginally better pwoer wise than H, they have 2 different sounds though. h pipe is louder and throatier down low, x pipe is raspier and screams up high. from a stock pipe youll get a little high end power, but you do loose some low end torque as stated.

Ford actually researched this and found that there wasnt a signifigant diff in hp gains between the two. While your take on the sound is both true and correct.......

The X-pipe vs H-pipe has been beaten to death. In our applications, their peak HP/TQ gains are nothing worth debating.

The H-pipe will make more power down low, the X-pipe will make more power higher in your powerband.

The increased noise and vibration might fool your butt-dyno into thinking you lost TQ. Infact, you won't lose any torque, it'll simply be moved higher in the powerband, so you won't be able to launch from a stop at 1,500 rpms and feel the same power as before. You'll need to drive more aggressively to feel the benefits without being fooled.

I felt the difference in my 02 GT. It fooled me for a few rips from a light.

wasnt a significant different, an x pipe is better for maybe 1-2 hp as stated above. its nothing worth crying about, the only real reason to buy an X or an H is for sound the rest is negligable.
