Default Push Button Starter

So have any of your guys rigged up a push button starter for your car? I saw something on a website about it but I couldnt understand it lol. I just thought it would be a cool addition to my car. How hard could it be?

Don't you still need to put the key in and turn the ignition on and unlock the steering colum? Kinda pointless I think.

just buy a painless switch panel, but your car can easily get stolen

I had thought about doing that at one time. Here was the little design I wanted but the solid black switch would be on the far left instead of the right for the momentary starter switch.

YOu need more than just a switch panel to get around the PASS system on our cars. I am an installer at BestBuy, and you'll need in addition to a start button, the DirrectElec Sycurity pass harness to turn off the security. (basicly the same extra harness needed when you install remote start) As long as you have a good alarm that kills the button when activated, you should be fine. Unless a thief really knows what they are doing. I have my Viper wired with different color wires, have my box remotly located, and have a sheet metal box covering that area of the under dash. It may sound excesive but I don't play when it comes to the theft of my car.

Oh and I remember one other way... Have your tuner turn off the PASS system from your ECU

Ok I was planning on doing this friday, the key will still be needed in order to start the car. So its not really putting my car at anymore risk to theft. I am going to install a gaurded mometary switch where my coin holder is by the e-brake. The wiring is not that complecated at all. It should turn out pretty cool.

with a push button start you have kill switches and there are systems that will only work if it detects the key fob within the vehicle.

There are push button starts that do not require keys, I think summitracing has a kit.
