THe cheapest way I have heard; is too use your extra Ford key and wrap it in thin copper wire ring loop to key tip and run the copper wire up and around the ignition switch.... This is ONLY, a "maybe" and I have only done it on one car, years ago. It worked then, I don't know for sure if it would still work on a mustang. Maybe worth a shot.

if you were to do that please invest in a kill switch.

just buy a painless switch panel, but your car can easily get stolen
with a push button start you have kill switches and there are systems that will only work if it detects the key fob within the vehicle.

There are push button starts that do not require keys, I think summitracing has a kit.
cars still get stolen with kill switches, I am just saying without a key present as in a case of a painless switch panel, it makes it that much easier to get stolen

Honestly, if it's going to get stolen, nothing he does will stop it... Same for any of us... Just take the standard precausions, and don't blab your mouth to everyone about your setup....

Found this online:

I installed mine today and made the needed changes so that this applies to the 94-98

The switch i bought came from Autozone, made by pilot. it was $30, but worth the money since you get instructions, a nice wiring harness, a chrome switch, optional mounting plate, 3 lense covers (red, blue and clear) and a swivel base so you dont have the tear it all apart if you want to change the colors. the harness consisted of Black, Red, Yellow, and White Wires.

Tools You Will Need:
Set of wrenches
Wire Cutters
Screw Driver
Electrical Tape
Box Cutter

What You Need To Do:

1. Remove the Kick Panel and the Metal Piece Underneath it.

2. find the Black box with wires coming out of it (it has a grey top with a screw holding it in. Be careful taking it off, I broke mine all to ****. I didnt bother trying to get it back on because 1) it was broken and 2) the wires were so large, and well restrained, there wasnt a lot of point in putting it back.

3. Once that is removed you will see 5 bigger Yellow Wires. These are all Constants, You can hook any of these into the buttons power wire.

4. Use the Wire Cutters to strip about a half of an ich of the wire coating off. Then take a wrap the wire from the relay (in my case red) around that striped spot and then use electrical tape to hold it in place. Another way to do it is to take your Box cutters and strip the wire away in one spot. this keeps you from having to completely cut the wire, and turned out to be really convienent.

5. Next look for a Black/green wire (this is what it was on the 98). Take the yellow wire from the relay and do it the same way as the red wire.

6. The next one is the starter wire. Which is white/pink and a bit (not much!) smaller than the rest. you can splice into this one the same way as above, but i really DO NOT recomend it! Could lead to later problems!

7. After everything is hooked up, youre going to want to find a ground. I found that the best place was on the metal peice that remains after you took everything apart from under the steering wheel. i simply hooked the ground wire on to one of the screws and bolted it down. its easily hidden, and easily accessable.

8. Now that youre wired up, connected everything do the spot you located on the dash to mount it. the kit should have come with an optional bracket, but if you decide to put it on the dash, the best place is on the guage cluster bezel. i found that all the included wires are the PERFECT length and do not need to be altered at all to get to this spot. not to mention, it looks really good in the car too

9. To use the swich you will need to put ur key in, turn it so that all the power in the car comes on and then hit the button. The engine should start.

I have seen it done on newer stangs and other makes of vehicles, and on the newer stangsthe button is by the a/c controls. I was going to do it a while back, and sort of just forgot about it. Alot of the ones I have seen just bought the Honda s2000 push button. And it works the same way installed in a different vehicl, where you have to turn the key to turn the electricals on. The button only does the starter part.
