Default Drag Radials or Slicks?

I want to get some traction at the track. I will be switching out the tires at the track, so im not worring about how it will ride on the street. Is my car even powerful enough to hurt my tranny? I want to get slicks, but i dont want to hook up too good, if u know what i mean. If some bfg drag radials will be enough ill just get those. tell me what you think. Thanks

I will be running them on a v6 stock 15 in wheel, so what size will i need?

it is more what your rear end can take than your tranny. my friend broke an axel launching with BFG's. I would get upgraded axles before getting slicks. i have nittos and have had no issues. that is also because they are not as sticky as the others.

With a v6 7.5 inch rear end, you will rip your car to peices of you launch on slicks. Drag radials should be okay though.

Why would it "rip your car to pieces" if you launch on slicks?

basically, when you launch your car hard, the power has to go somewhere. slicks grip so well they don't spin enough for the power to transfer through them. this usually causes an axle to snap, since they are too weak for this much abuse.

Nice car. 301 rwhp is outstanding.

1. Ever run your car?

2. You running stock exhaust?

3. How "big" of a cam did you go with?

4. What heads?

Yeah if you're getting strip-only tires, get slicks, but like the other guys said, put some strong consideration into upgrading your driveline because your rear end is likely going to be the first thing to go.

i haven't run my car yet with my current setup. i'll run it with my new suspension in june when i get home. my exhaust consists of LT headers, off road x, and a crappy flowmaster catback. my cams are comp XE270AH, mounted on ported PI heads with mod max valves and comp springs.
