T-45 Noise Question
Does anyone here have a 96-01 GT with a T-45 that makes significantly more noise in 3rd and 4th than in 1st and 2nd? I took my car back to this transmission shop I have been having issues with, because my 3rd and 4th gears have a very loud gear wine, way more than 1st and 2nd. It started after I took my car there for a repair, and sounds way louder than before. The owner of the shop claims its normal and im just hearing it more due to my Steeda shifter. I think its sounds horrible and other people that have driven it agree. I would like to know if anyone agrees this is not a normal sound and I would like to print out this forum and show it to him.

RE: T-45 Noise Question
if you changed shifters i am betting it's just normal noise that you can now hear. When i first changed mine without any gasket/material noise was really bad. Then i put some RTV it almost went away. I think it's normal, now you are just hearing it! Are your bump stops to tight? because 3rd and 4th are closer then 1st and 2nd to the bolt!

Actually, much like their predecessor the T5, the case is sort of a weak point. helical gears produce thrust when meshed together which puts a strain on the case. this can cause excessive endplay causing many problems including the common jumping out of gear. there are also a few other downsides. o and by the way if the t45 and t5 transmissions werent pos there would be no market for the tkos and viper specs. no driver error here.

What magazine did you copy that out of. Bash the T-45 all you want. I've never had a problem.

That's weird, because my T-45 with 100,000 miles is still shifting great with 330 rwhp, running in the 12's. Must be driver error that's F,ing them up,
