Default Oil?

Hello:

Time for another oil change and I was looking in my manual and it says to use 5w-30.... I though to myself, sh9t, Nanaki's cap says 5w-20. Which one should I use and why?

THanks.

Ok Acer my buddy.... Time for a lesson from youre friend Casper

In...most cars by 2000 FORD started using a thinner oil. 5W-20. Its semi-synthetic. Its more "tree hugger" friendly, making less emmisions...You can get 0W-20 from MObil 1 for the FORD substitute. Its the same as 5W-20

5W-30 is what youre engine takes. I personally use... Mobil 1... 15w50 or something like that. I dont remember. But its the thikckest oil they make and still be synthetic.

They used organic oil up till I bought it from the dealership... It's bad to change over from organic to synthetic after that many miles.

Who told you it was bad to change over to synthetic after "many miles". I've read lots and lots of books and that was never mentioned..

The most miles I had on an organic motor before changing over was 75,000 in my vette's 350... went with synthetic and it ran sweet, no leaks, no blow-by, valves were happy.

What reason(s) did you hear it was bad?

K.

Something about builup on the valves or something... Eh, I'll see if I can't gather some more info before I make a decision.
