RE: SVO Intake On PI Heads
Car is mine and I amk looking for info on this intake and comparisons to the Bullitt as to which flows more. Tried google searches and on several forums but only the depot has much posted. It seems that this intake added 23whp to a '99 like mine. It is now obsolete or on indefinite backorder.
Another thing I am interested in is what cam specs would be best for using this strictly street. Crower .532" lift with 220*/224* durations are what I am consdering since he stock PI cams are 200*/209*. The SVO flows 5% more than the stock PI intake for a starting point and unlike the stock intake it flows to 6100rpm with no flat spot. Presently overcammed with Sean Hyland #2730's with .495" and 230* in and out. THX!
PS; I have 4.10's and it is an automatic and the present stall is 2800rpm with the current set-up but I have a 3200rpm stall that can be installed but not sure 400rpm will nearly be enough so new cams may be the way to go.
There is a tool that allows for cam changes without removing the front cover, anyone familiar and have a name/link?

RE: SVO Intake On PI Heads
Last I remember the SVO intake only fits NON-PI heads.
That tool you are refering to is the anderson ford tool and I would highly suggest you don't use it. One slip and you can jump a tooth without knowing it and you will be buying a new motor.

RE: SVO Intake On PI Heads
The intake is port matched to PI heads but otherwise that is it. interestingly the intake has bosses in place for the COP's and I also did the coolant mod with this intake and a close look shows a 3/8" I.D. hose running under the EGR valve and ending next to the T-stat housing which was nice to have out of the way-mod that is. I got almost all of the intall kit with the intake including the EGR valve/tube, throttle cable, TB and inlet tube though I will be replacing that with a JLT CAI come spring. I added 24lb. inj's and a Pro-M MAF along with the SVO and cams. It needs a dyno tune and I will be starting a thread about the shops that are Ford 4.6 experienced nearest to Syracuse, NY and I know I may have to go out of state to get the kind of tune I need.
I did not even use any silicone that many talk about due to the coolant ports being larger on the SVO as the nice new Ford gaskets fit very well after I cut the alignment tabs off! Hopefully I can get a mid 13 from this with the right tune and a bit higher stall? THX!
