The 99-01 1/2 cars have a seperate IAT sensor that is around that location. The 01 1/2+ cars have a integrated IAT.

it usually takes a minute after theres a problem for a CEL to come on...it usually wont happen immiedately after something goes bad (my mil eliminators disconnected themselves while i was driving and i heard it rubbing the ground. i couldnt get it on a lift to fix it till the next day and the CEL didnt come on for about 20+ miles of driving.
the CAI i bought had a hole too and its for that sensor thing that we dont have. i bought a bolt from o-reillys and shoved it in there and it works fine. it needs to be covered otherwise your car will spaz out. your getting air into your intake that isnt bieng read by the MAF. get a bolt or something, stick it in there (make sure its a tight fit obviously) then disconnect your battery for a couple minutes to clear the code and you should be good to go. if not then clean your MAF
