Default T-56 Question

Can the T-56 transmissions used in GM cars (Camaro's, Vettes, and Firebirds) be used on a Stang w/ the bellhousing changed?

they make t-56s specifically for stangs, ie 03 cobra. I would get a viper spec t-56 though. Its the only one that has a real world usable and purposeful 6th gear ratio of .50. The rest of the t-56 family has a .63 which is similar to our 5th gear of .67

just curious, what do you mean by "usable"? I dont know much about gear ratios. Can you explain that to me? Like you can actually keep pulling with it or what?

It means you could run like 4.56 gears outback and still be right around 2000rpm at 70mph in 6th, which is close to the stock 3.27s at 70mph in 5th on the 5 speeds. With 4.56s the first5 gears on the t56 would then be similar to a t-45's 1-5 gears with 3.73s or so...

thanks for all the help...seems t-56 is outside of my budget thoug...considering a t-3650 out of a 03 Mach with the "fix" done or a replacement t-45....

oh and you will need those steeper gears with a t-56 to make up for it b/c of their weak *** first gear ratio compared to the 3650
