RE: Best Oil for Higher Milege mustangs!!!
ok so after reading this it's made me kind of weary of changing. i have 76k and i was just going to switch from whatever the dealership uses to RP, but after reading this you guys make it sound like i shouldn't, is this right? i have an 01 gt, would it be ok or even good for the car to switch to RP? also which weight is best, i live in el paso tx so i was thinking 5w-30? please advise

I see no reasonNOT to switch to full synthetic. There are numerous reasons to make the switch though. The brand of choice is a topic of much discussion but the end result is the same. Full synthetic is better than any oil made from dinosaurs. As far as weight, I can't give you an educated answer for Texas as I live in Virginia.

I run a Vortech V-2that uses my car's oil instead of it's on self contained oil and because of that I've always been told that too thin of an oil will cause the Supercharger to smoke so I run Mobil 1 Extended Performance10w-30 (changed every 2500 miles)but have contemplated going with the Mobil 1 Extended Performance 15w-50 but I'm afraid that might be too thick for Alabama climate.
