Default Noisy Pulley System

I've noticed that the pulley system on the 4.6 is very noisy! It sounds like a bad water pump bearing but when I check it it seems like all the pulleys/tensioners are making that same noise. Is this common?

Yes, most of the time it's the tensioner or idler pulley that goes bad.

Will this hurt performance all that much? As noisy as it is I can live with it for a while.

Mine had a little noise awhile back but went away. I dont think its going to hurt your performance... If I'm wrong someone will correct me.

This is pretty noisy! I think I'll pull the belt off and spin each accesory by hand and see if it makes that noise. From what I can gather, it seems as though the tensioners seem to go out but at 14K? Also, since I'm going to have the belt off I might as well take off the A/C compressor since I'm not using it anymore. Does anyone know the size belt I will need to replace the longer one?

It's usually the tensioner or an idler. Performance won't suffer, but replace it anyway. You don't wanta bearing to seize.

Do you think I should just go ahead and replace the pulleys with a UDP system since I'm going to be in there? Summits got a generic one for $100. Does anyone have experience with these?

Mine started making noise at 98,000 miles and it turned out to be the alternator.

If you have no intention of getting blown, go ahead. Get Steedas or March with internal dampeners. DO NOT buy those.

Keep in mind they won't solve the noise issue.....
