ok i have the 4.6....and i've been looking on the net and i found a couple bigger motors i was interested in....5.8L/351 - 392CID SMALL BLOCK 430HP GT-40 HEAD FORD RACING PERFORMANCE CRATE ENGINE ASSEMBLY....i think thats the biggest you can go on pump gas....with 430 hp and the motor costs about 8k....i could then add a blower or something?what would i have to do to put that motor in my car....i know its carbed so the wiring would have to go...but what about everything else?.....and i could sale my 4.6 cuz it only has 64k on it and pullys with that....

you could sell it, i would...but you can go up to 434 on after market blocks, on a stock 351 block you can make a 418 but the most common is a 408w

As I understand it, it's really not that difficult. You will need a k member from a 94-95 mustang. You will obviously need the fuel system to be changed because of the carb(way to much fuel pressure) and you will need to get the appropriate exhaust. You will have to do something about your transmission as well. You'll have to get a T-5 or something that will bolt up to the 351. Other then that it should be able to just jam it in there.

You should try searching the forum I know this has been answered before and maybe you could get some information from the old threads.

When considering an engine swap, don't forget the cost of replacing every hose, cable, tube and wire that connects to the engine. That can add up to an extra grand or two.

I even had to have a custom harness built to connect my GT computer to my Cobra motor. I could have gone with a Mach 1 harness and computer, but my tuner strogly recommended against that... in his opinion, the Mach 1 computer is for $hit.

Default RE: engine swap

for the swap yuo need:
engine
k member ( might as well go tubular unless cost is an issue)
you dont have to have a carb...you can keep the lower intake on the 351w engine and use the 5.0 upper for EFI
+1 on cost for wiring/ computer
you'll need a tranny and bell housing

You know you could of used the GT wiring right, i know 2 other people locally with a 4v swap with a tuned gt ecu and the gt harness.

I didn't know you could re-use the GT harness and ECU. I thought when swapping to a 4V, you had to swap the harness as well. Is this something an average joe could attempt or is it too involved?

Thanks
