Mine does it in first gear only. Then after the shift it doesn't do it anymore. We bought it with 27k miles and it did it then and still does it. I know of 2 other mustang autos that do the exact same thing. I just had mine in for service with 84K miles and they said everything looks just fine. They flushed it and put a new filter in and it still does it. I would say take it in for service and have them drop the pan and inspect it and if they say everything's fine the don't worry about. Just let people think you have a blower!

I just discovered a whine in mine some place at idle and in gear. It only happend the one day I took a friend for a ride around the block, and it hasn't done it since. I'm an auto also. I think mine might be an accesory bearing going bad though on something.

When the weather is better if it still does it I'll pull the serpentine belt and see if it stops making the noise, if it stops, then I'll know it is one of the accesories. Then I just gotta find out which one is doing it.

The accessory bearing comment reminded me, my Camaro was whining like that and I replaced the alternator (had it rebuilt actually) andthe whiningstopped. It was the alternator bearing. I've never heard to much about tranmissions whining, although I'm sure there are some cases out there.

my sisters hyundai does it...and her alternators going out..so my guess is that it's linked to that

although i think her car did it before the alternator was acting up too..

Mine makes that same noise when I mash the gas. Its a tad bit higher so people always think its a supercharger, infact that whine made a ricer back off once cause he must have thought the same thing. Just go with the flow but I do see how it can get annoying.

you can hear it with the radio on
LOL>>>You think maybe it's simply a ground wire or your RFI frequency is being interupted??..lol If not how's your alternator. Doesn't sound anything like a tranny problem. Engine speeds change when your car shifts gears obviously, so your alternator would change as well. Also your interference "buzzing" sound maybe from your speakers goes with rpms too!

Your tranny is shot, or my car did the same and found out it had a port and polished intake..LMAO You guys are morons
