I experienced a similar problem in my Tahoe when I had a bad boot after changing the plugs & wires, though it had no affect on the exhaust volume. The TPS's I've messed with were all directly connected to the blade on the TB. A TPS is just a potentiometer.

this sounds like an ignition related misfire. how many miles do you have on your plugs? another possibility could be a weak COP

I'm out of town right now. When I get home I'll take a picture pointing to it. But if anyone else can get a picture of it, it would be very helpful.

havent really looked around yet but where is the TPS located at under the hood? and im guessing if my car would be cruising at 40mph and all a sudden for a half second it feels likei let go of the gas but then it was fine again it would also be this problem?

Wow, thanks for all of the information and to RJW for posting up the link to the how to check the TPS. I am going to change out the TPS, this weekend, before I order the new COP's.

Ok well I dunno if this will help any of you guys... but I found out that it is an actual miss fire. My coil over was loose (and still is) and had water (coolant?) in the bottom where the plug was. I got it all out and made sure it was dry and then put the coil over back on. It seems to work fine now. I wonder where the water/coolant is from... any ideas?

How did you find out that it was a misfire? It wasn't throwing a code right? What would happen if I took mine to Auto Zone and had them put a tester on it, and there is no CEL on. Do you think it would still show a misfire. Mine is doing the same thing as yours. Thanks

if it's indeed coolant, you most likely have a crack in your manifold, does your car still have the old style (plastic crossover)manifold?

Which coil was loose? I had an issue once where my heater hose was leaking where it connected to the rear of the lower intake. The rear passenger side coil on plug was loose and I kept getting coolant in the spark plug well. I almost lost my mind from intermittent misfires until I found it.
