Alright.....my friend has a Mustang GT with X pipes and flowmaster exhaust. We were down at the drag strip tonight, hes not the best driver and he spun the tires off the line and got a 15.8....yeah i know thats bad, but how should a good launch go on a GT. I got a WRX and that launch is completely different.

i just got exhaust on my wrx and i got it running 14.2, but i dont know **** about launching a mustang...i assume just keep it at about 3 grand and go from there....but i was wondering if there are any tricks

 

well what year is the mustang and what engine? maybe its a 6 :P

but on street tires no 3k is too high, i pretty much have to idle off the line, unless he wants to feather it.

 

are you sure it was a 15.8 and not a 14.8, cause thats really slow for a gt, even if you spin through first and second

 

what if he was to drop it from 2k rpm on street tires? wouldnt be that much spin maybe?

 

When I had street tires I couldnt launch at anything higher than idle because I would spin like crazy. Tonight I put on the 275/60/15 BFG's and launched at 5000 rpms and grabbed like a **** and pulled a 1.86 60' but a good head wind broke my quarter mile down to a 13.4. [&o]

 

I ussually end up launching at around 2k with 4.10 rear end gears and still have to feather it a bit to hold good traction..... it all depends on preferance and driver skill on how each different person should launch.... some like to feather it at hihg rpms some like to go lower rpms and drop the clutch off the line......
