Phantom leak?
I pulled my car out of the garage today and noticed a small puddle of light brown oil. So I check under the car to where I just backed it up and it wasn't leaking. So I decided to take it for a good twenty minute drive and see if the leak returns.
I pull in the garage and let it sit for a few hours. When I came back out the oil was there again. It seems to be between my H pipe, just a tad bit back from where the driveshaft connects to the transmission. What could be leaking in this area?
I'd like to add that I use royal purple oil in the engine, so I know it's not my engine oil. The oil is a different color, or atleast I think it stays a different color (Purple). So I think that narrows it down to either transmission fluid, or brake fluid.
Also I can't find where the drip is on the car. I have the car driven onto some woodplanks to be risen somewhat, but I still can't get under it to find the leak. Where is a good jacking point in the middle of the car (drivers side)?
With all of this info, any hints or suggestions?
OH, yeah I just had the flywheel and clutch changed in September. Don't know if that helps any.

tranny fluid in our car is red. The driveshaft has 4 bolts that hold it on and are not to bad if you squirt them with penetrating oil a few hours prior. There are on the back part just in front of the differential. The driveshaft will slide right out of the transmission and you should be able to get a seal puller to pull the seal out. It's just a slide hammer with jaws that pull fromthe back side. I piece of wood or something to tap the new seal in place evenly. It will stop when it's flush. Jack the back of the car up and leave the fron on the gound so the tranny fluid doesn't pour out the tailshaft. That brings me to this question.....Is your trans. fluid to full? Get your car level and pop out your top plug, nothing should come out of that hole. The fluid should be at the bottom. If your fluid is too full, then it can cause a leak outta the tailshaft.

I just took it for another drive to try to find the leak. When I got back I couldn't find any drips on they tranny, but I did find the drips on the purple electrical plug that is situated between the 2 cats in the H pipe. This has further confused me.
