The way i have the most sucess launching is to rev it up to 2000-2500 and dump the clutch but let the motor bog down to about 1200-1500 then roll into the throttle

Take some air outta your back tires, bring the rev's up to about 3k, feather the clutch AND the gas all the way through first, be careful power shifting second on street tires, you dont wanna spin much shifting.

The reason you wanna feather the clutch all the way is to reserve power for the end of first gear, with 3.73's or 4.10's you don't need to worry about this, but with 3.27's you do.

you should run 14.4's 14.3's. I ran a 14.4 with my stock car. Could have run faster but the track was slick midway and when I pulled second I spun the wheels. By the end of the night the track got so bad I was spinning third for 20 to 30 feet.

Good luck. Found my best launches at 2400 with a slight warming of the tires. NO WATER BOX!

in a way i agree w/ crazyhorse. i believe if you are running street tires that there is a sweet spot that you need to be in. i drive a 92 lx but i have a few friend w/ the new style pony. these cars love rpms and that is a no no w/ street tires. i ran my friends 2000 and i could pull him about a car and a half from home everytime. he would always come and get me but my point is, practice on the street. launching that is. these cars tend to bog alot easier the the five liter mustangs did. so pratice a launch that will allow you to haze the tires off the line. anything more than that will will result in above 2 second 60 ft times. anything less will result in a bog that you will recover from, but will cost you et. hazing the tires will help keep your mph up also. i think the rule is every tenth you save on your 60 ft you pick up 2 tenths on the other end. i'm betting w/ a good launch you'll get a low 14 out of it. drive aroud the water not through it then clean your tires off and not too much then focus. if you are not worried about your reaction time don't worry about the light and focus on your launch. so what if the car next to you beats you, run that low 14 or high 13 and you can take that timeslip with you. good luck

Best run of the night was 14.039, at 100.5mph, traction sucked so my 60 ft time was over 2. I'll update when i get slicks, I also SMOKED an Infinity G35 cpe with the track pkg, brembos,6 speed etc.. should have seen the look on his face when he got dusted by a car that was 10k less money new.. and that run was with a full tank of gas, street tires with full pressure etc. Launched at about 1400 rpm, spun thru 1st, 2nd and then hold on in third.

drop tire pressure and you will reduce your 60's try running 24-26 psi in back. you will be supprised with the traction gains.

What mods does your friends focus have? I had a ZX5 premium with a few minor mods and it was still slow as x-mas. Or, is it a modded SVT?

SilverGT V8 u gotta learn how to drive that thing man.... if you powershift second you will go sideways anyways, and usually even worse at the track...you should be able to run at least a 14.1 on street tires, i ran my best time on street tires with 33.5 psi in the rear tires and that was a 13.993 @ 100.026
