Default Motive vs Ford Racing Gears

Went to the speed shop today to ask the guy about installing gears. He said it'd be 280 and he would supply install kit i just need the ring and pinion. But he told me he strongly reccomends ford racing gears over everything else because they are the only ones to be sure oem like gears and would be the best quality along with the least chance for whine. Is this true? I always thought motive was a good gear company but when i mentioned them he said i would stick to ford racing gears. Anyone have motives and have any problems?

It comes to mind that people on here have said that maybe ford makes motive gears or vise versa? Motives are just as good as Ford Racing gears. The whine you get is all from the installer. I have richmond gears and don't have any problems with them at all.

hey may have it in his head that FRPP gears are going to be better quality because they have an OEM name behind them. Maybe so, probably not. I personaly don't know the difference between Motive gears and Ford gears as far as the build quality. BUT, the whine thing is BS. If they whine AT ALL for ANY amount of time after getting the car back(i.e. there is no whiny break in period), he did something wrong, not the gears.

If he knows what he is doing, he can make any brand work. FRPP are easier to install however, which is probably why he recommends them, so he has less chance of a mistake. I have Yukon's with no problem.

whine = installation procedure bottom line, not the gear (*If the gear is new)

Don't have gears but everyone, I mean EVERYONE that posts anything similar to this agrees unanimously that it is the install, not the gears if that's any piece of mind.

Is it true that FRPP gears are easier to install?

motive makes or made FRPP gears at one point. both arent bad to install, ive heard FRPP is easier to install but thats probably just rumor i dont see why they would be any easier. gears only whine if the installer sucks.
